Little Havana

Little Havana, Miami Overview

Little Havana came into existence back in 1960s when Fidel Castro came into power.

The area consists of Mediterranean-style houses, tobacco scents drifting from cigar stores, the click of dominos in the Domino Park and the Latin music all contribute to the neighborhoodÍs authentic Cuban vibe. Azucar Ice Cream Company gives you the taste of (reimagined) Cuban flavors, such as the Abuela Maria„vanilla blended with crumbled Maria cookies, chunks of guava and dollops of cream cheese. The annual Calle Ocho parade which is the largest street festival in the world is hosted by the neighborhood every year. Although the area is far less dangerous today than in its past, it is still not advised to wander into East Little Havana where violence and gang wars is still a concern.
