Japan Ukiyo-e Museum, Matsumoto Overview
The Sakai family spent generations assembling over 100,000 woodblock prints, and this is where they are, shown in rotating exhibitions of a few hundred at a time. It is one of the largest private ukiyo-e collections in the world. One practical note: it is 3 km out of the centre, so it is a taxi or a walk from Oniwa station, not a stroll from the castle as some guides imply.
