Day Trip to Kamikochi, Matsumoto Overview
A river valley at 1,500 metres where the Azusa runs clear over pale gravel and the Hotaka range rises behind Kappa Bridge. Two rules decide the trip: the valley is open only from around mid April to mid November, and private vehicles have been banned beyond the Kama Tunnel since 1994, year round and permanently. Park at Sawando and take the shuttle. About 1 hour 50 from Matsumoto station.
