Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, Las Vegas Overview

A stunning set of red coloured rock formations, the Red Rock Canyon Conservation Area is among the best sights near the city.

A favourite place for rock climbers and hikers, this protected area is one of Las Vegas' best sights. The red sandstone rock formation is visible even from the Strip, and the formation of sandstone walls and peaks is named the Keystone Thrust. The actual Red Rock Canyon is actually a smaller canyon in the area, reached by taking an off-road route just off the main loop road. The place is extremely popular for adventure activists for hiking and rock climbing. The loop road is also popular for bicycle tours, and some areas in Red Rock are also open for camping. It is important to remember, however, that the region is extremely hot in the summer, and adequate arrangements should be made.
