Chaweng Noi Beach, Koh Samui Overview

Chaweng Noi is one of the longest beaches in Koh Samui boasting of a great nightlife within walking distance, but still far enough to enjoy the tranquillity of nature. It is the southernmost portion of Chaweng Beach that attracts thousands of visitors each year. Chaweng Beach is made up of four beaches: North Chaweng, South Chaweng, Central Chaweng, and Chaweng Noi (also called “Little Chaweng”).

At just over 1 kilometre, Chaweng Noi Beach is fairly small and is separated from the other beaches by a small stream. In the rainy months, this stream can run deep, making it dangerous to cross. It is far less noisy and crowded than its Chaweng beach counterparts with the promise of privacy as it is hidden from the main road by hotels and beach restaurants. This makes Chaweng Noi the perfect destination for some rest and relaxation away from loud music, crowds, and prying eyes.

Things to Do at Chaweng Noi Beach

  • Chaweng Noi beach is mostly known for its lounging opportunities. The waters can get deep around 5 metres to 7 metres from the shore, allowing for swimming and snorkelling opportunities to see coral and seashells. However, there is no rental service available here. For more water sports activities, the beach has kiosks offering services like banana boat riding, wake boarding, and jet skiing.

  • The shallow waters are ideal for walks along the beach. Families with young children will especially enjoy the shallows portions where their children can play in the water freely.

  • As there is no marketplace or town close to the beach, many beach vendors come down to Chaweng Noi to sell their goods. One might enjoy purchasing some of the souvenirs like customised bracelets and swimwear. Don’t hesitate to haggle!

  • Within ten minutes walking distance from Chaweng Noi is Lat Ko Viewpoint along the highway. It’s considered one of the best viewpoints in the entire island to catch a panoramic view of the sea and east coast. Right before sunset, make way to the viewpoint to catch an unbelievable view of the turquoise waters and orange-pink skies.

  • The bars and clubs of Chaweng Beach are just a few minutes away. Most visitors simply walk to the main road and catch a local songtaew bus to the next stop filled with plenty of Chaweng Beach’s nightlife offerings like Black Jack Pub, Bar Solo, On Street Bar, and Reggae Pub.
