Japanese Garden, Houston Overview

The Japanese Garden is a 5.5-acre garden which is known for its many natural and architectural elements representative of Japan. Visitors to the garden enter through a gate known as the Nagayamon which has pine and oak trees around itself. The waterfall, falling off a granite cascade, happens to be one of the main highlights here along with the lush green land and the flora.

It is visible from the teahouse on site, also known as the Azumaya. There are winding stone pathways all around the garden which allow visitors to walk around, while taking in the cherry and peach trees, azaleas, Japanese maples, dogwoods and crepe myrtles. A Yumi style stone lantern rests near the entrance while the bridge within provides a view of a small arbour.
