Getting around Ho Chi Minh City is easy especially as public transport is developing rapidly. There are many ways of commuting within the city the most popular one being riding a bus with over 150 routes all across the city (tel: +84 8 3854 6110; www.saigonbus.com.vn). One can buy a map bus from the major city hub, Ben Thanh bus station on Tran Hung Dao Street and can purchase a single side ticket for bus journey. There are several taxi companies most of them are metered. Make sure to check the meter before starting your travel. There are Motorbike taxis (xe om) as well, which usually approach tourists and are efficient way of moving around. Fix the price before hand and make sure you are given a helmet or you may be levied with heavy fine by police. Lastly, one can hire a car, motorcycle, scooter or bicycles (around the backpacker hangout Pham Ngu Lao area) to best explore the city. Despite what one may chose as a way of transport, traffic jam can get really horrible during peak hours.
