Daat Kali Mandir Dehradun, Dehradun Overview

The Daat Kali Temple in Dehradun is often known as the “Maa Daat Kali Mandir” and is dedicated to the Goddess Kali. One of the most commonly visited temples in Uttarakhand, a large number of locals and tourists come here to seek blessings before starting a new chapter of their lives and also for the darshan of a flame that has been continuously burning since 1921.

It is said that the Daat Kali Temple houses an idol of the Goddess that was put there during the early 1800s when it was constructed. Devotees come here to pray to Goddess Kali, often bringing ghee, oil and flour as offerings, and also for blessings upon making a major purchase such as that of a car. Given that the temple lies alongside the Dehradun-Saharanpur Road, it also serves as a popular resting spot, especially since there are facilities for resting in the hall or Bhawan of the establishment. The festival of Navratri is celebrated with great gusto here and a bhandar is setup up at this time to offer to devotees food that is considered to have been blessed by Maa Kali herself.
