Hi, Coorg was quite badly affected by the recent floods, and was one of the worst affected districts in Karnataka. There were a lot of landslides across the district, and infact a number of coffee plantations were totally destroyed. A number of roads leading up to Coorg had landslides, and buses to Coorg were cancelled or diverted. Given that, I highly recommend that you plan some alternate option to visit Coorg. If you have a prior booking with a resort/hotel, maybe you can talk to the hotel and check with them, but I still suggest you plan your on a later date if possible.

There are many tent stay options for tourists in Coorg made available by many estates and resorts. Major tent stay providers are concentrated around Madikeri and finding such experiences away from cities like Madikeri, Kushalnagara, Virajpet, etc. are difficult.

There are budget hotels in Madikeri where you can lodge your students. Hilltown Hotel is one good option. You can talk to the hotel owners and arrive at a reasonable deal since it is a group booking.

Coorg, famous for its Homestays and Resorts, can be visited over a weekend. Sightseeing such as Raja?s Seat and Madikeri Fort have very little to offer. Raja?s Seat is super crowded and the serenity of the place is lost in the midst of noise. Madikeri Fort is also uninteresting, too small and too uneventful. Coorg has local shops that offer spice wine and homemade chocolates that I would recommend to everyone. Even Coorg cuisine is extremely tasty and worth a try for spice lovers, especially. When visiting Coorg, do make it a point to visit Vivanta by Taj Resort because it offers a beatific view of the landscapes and its pleasant to walk in around the property. If not for a homestay, do try the restaurant Ferntree at the Resort which is amazingly located and does not put a hole in your pocket.

Coorg is a lovely hill station. Do check out my itinerary, top pics and videos on "link hidden". We really enjoyed the unexplored places like Mallalli falls and Surlabi falls.

I liked Coorg very much, the spell and sounds of nature is it's beauty, the food is affordable for the travellers, Peoples also well behaved, Iruppu and Abbey falls are really amazing but Iruppu falls much more adventuring, Raja seat its really a Raja's seat, what a view for it, I just stunned on it, Overall Coorg is worthy for nature lovers

I visited Coorg in 2016. The place looks like a fairyland. Calm and serene verdant hills. If you are accompanied with children, must try a ride in children's train at the Raja's seat.

Pros: 1. Jungle Mount Adventures in Kakkabe near Virajpet 2. Bgrows Home stay - amazing food 3. Coffee plantation walk 4. Adventure activities Cons: 1. Dubbare Elephant camp - the way those poor animals are treated is just appalling 2. Prepare to be disappointed by Abbi falls 3. Coorg Restaurants - Bad bad bad

For me, Coorg provided the perfect weekend away from my fast-paced city life with its several historical and cultural tourist attractions. Raja?s Seat, a favourite of the Kings of Kodagu, is a sunset point where you can view all of the surrounding green hills. Madikeri Fort, another must-see landmark, was built by Muddu Raja, and houses within it a church, a temple, a prison, a library and a museum. The Abbey Falls, a personal favourite, is where the water of the Kaveri river falls from a soaring height of 70 feet. I highly recommend carrying your walking shoes ? walking will give you the best view of the town?s beauty!

Good thing to go there in summer time, because you feel cool ...
Rohit Shroff 1 year ago
- If you are visiting Coorg in wet weather seasons, beware of leeches especially while walking through wet grass and in bathrooms/toilets.
- Watch out for traffic (locals warn about overloaded lorries"") along the main highways leading into Madikeri and the winding roads of the region. Speedbreakers on some roads tend to be unmarked. Wild animals are reported on some roads at night, and domesticated herds by day too.
- Along with Kannada, English and Hindi are also spoken in Coorg, so language should not be a problem here.
