Etymology of Manikyadhara Falls

The name ‘Manikyadhara’ can be literally translated to ‘string of pearls’ in English. The waterfall has been so named as the water cascading down would fall in droplets that would reflect sunlight and shine like pearls.

Legend of Manikyadhara Falls

Manikyadhara Waterfall holds significant religious importance for both Hindus and Muslims. It is believed that the saint Baba Budan came to the site with 4 of his disciples in search of water. But when he couldn’t find any, he offered a long prayer. After which the rock paved way and a gushing stream of water came out. This eventually came to be called Manikyadhara Waterfall.

Best Time to Visit

The area experiences hot summers and cold winters. Although any time of the year is considered ideal to visit the waterfalls, the time between the months of October and April is considered best. At this time of the year, the weather is pleasant and the climate is moderate thus making your trip the most enjoyable

How to Reach

The best way to reach the Manikyadhara Falls is either by hiring an SUV or a jeep or by trekking down. Some people prefer to walk to the falls from the Baba Budan Shrine while others tend to take a shared jeep. Once the vehicle drops the tourists here, there is fencing all around and around 200 steps lead the way downwards to the base of the Falls where you can take a dip.
