Historic Sites, Baltimore Overview

People seeking historical stuff in Baltimore will not be disappointed at all, since the city has some prominent monuments and other sites which hold a strong place in history.

Fort McHenry is the most famous historic site in Baltimore. It has endured several attacks in the past to prevent the city from enemies. Another reason why people are so much interested in this archaeological ruin is that it is the real inspiration behind the National Anthem 'The Star-spangled Banner' written by Francis Scott Key, right here. The other historical places to visit are the Washington Monument, Flag House, Edgar Allan Poe House and Museum, the George Peabody Library and the Baltimore Basilica (the first Catholic Cathedral in the United States).
