How does it improve connectivity?
At present, getting to Killar from Bhanodi takes over 2 and a half hours to cover the 61 kilometer distance. It is usually a long and tedious journey by road. The ropeway will definitely cut down travel time between both ends and improve transportation. It will be easier to access remote areas near Killar via this ropeway.Approval and Budget
The project was sanctioned by the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs. The project was proposed to the state government in September. The overall cost of this project is estimated to about 600 crore and the Union government has funded 50 Lakhs for the ropeway."The ropeway project is a pilot project for the state" as stated by Jai Ram Thakur, Chief Minister, Himachal Pradesh. He also added that "It will be a challenging task for the Ropeway and Rapid Transport System Development Corporation of Himachal Pradesh"
The project is a good initiative but a challenging one. It will take a while to execute and undertake the entire ropeway, however is going to benefit the transport of the region.
Principal Secretary of Transport, J.C. Sharma said that the detailed project report of this ropeway will be produced soon and that they have been working on it.
The state sure is going to take great pride in this project once accomplished.
