Matterhorn Peak, Zermatt Overview

Matterhorn is a pyramid-shaped mountain standing in solitude forming a perfect backdrop for your gram at different locations. It stands on the border of Germany and Switzerland and is known as the only Alpine peak visible in the landscape. Enjoy the full view of the Matterhorn from the Klein-Matterhorn.

One can reach Klein-Matterhorn via a cable car journey in Zermatt. The name translates to ‘Peak of the meadows’ and with its pyramidical shape, it becomes extremely tough to climb. The first attempt was made in 1865 causing the loss of 4 of the seven lives that went into the journey. That expedition changed the name and fame of the mountain forever and now it is on the list of every daring mountaineer and it still is amongst the toughest to conquer.

While in the region do not miss visiting the Lake Stellisee which, owing to its position, forms a perfect mirror image of the Matterhorn onto its calm waters and is a sight to behold.
