Matterhorn Glacier Trail, Zermatt Overview

Matterhorn Glacier Trail’s best offering is the beautiful sight of a glacial retreat. You will lose yourself in the cold mountain breeze, soft melting snow, and the smell of ice, rock, and water. The trail offers gorgeous views of the Alps, numerous tiny lakes, rocks sculpted exquisitely by the glacial activities, etc.

You walk close enough to the glacier to see its serene waters flow through; a place sandwiched between rock and ice, you also get to see the value it holds for the flora and fauna that thrive on it. This theme-based trail that covers a distance of just over 6.5 kms and at its highest point just touches the 3000-metre altitude mark holds the Furgg and Theodul glaciers which have withdrawn over 3 kms since 1850.
