Grunsee Lake, Zermatt Overview

Another gorgeous stop en-route your five-lake trail, Grunsee lake offers a sweet spot to stop and relax for a picnic, a swim or just a gentle walk as you soak in the views of the Alps and Matterhorn. Its water may appear green, but it is quite cold as the lake is fed by the mountain springs.

Many geologists also like the place due to its unique rock formations as it was formerly a glacial landscape. One can photograph the numerous 4000 metres plus peaks in whose laps this lake rests and if lucky, its placid surface may even form a beautiful mirror image of the peaks and skyline.
