Five Lake Trail , Zermatt Overview

Five Lake Trail, a two-and-a-half-hour and about 10 km long trail, is a unique experience. At an altitude of over 2000 metres, this tour starts from Blauherd covering the lakes of Grindjisee, Grunsee, Moosjisee, Stellisee and Leisee. It offers panoramic views of the Alps, and its glaciers and ends at Sunnegga.

Another amazing fact about this trail is that it is mostly downhill reaching its highest point at 2584 metres and lowest at 2130 metres. Besides, each lake has its wonders to offer. The Leisee is a children’s favourite as they love swimming in it. The Grunsee offers a more rugged landscape with Swiss stone pines whereas some rare adorable flowers surround the periphery of Grindjisee.

Must Know Before You Visit Five Lake Trail

Other important objective information : 1. The trail is appropriate for children aged above 6.
2. There are many guided, non-guided group tours available. Besides, one can plan the hike and discover it for themselves as well as the hike is well-signed and directed. 
3. The Grindjisee and Leisee lakes offer the best swimming experience. Leisee also has a cute picnic site for a little family gathering. 
4. Please note that for a major part of the hike, you’ll be travelling through wide gravel areas so decide and prepare accordingly. 
5. June to September are the best months for the trail.
