Puliyarmala Jain Temple, Wayanad Overview

Puliyarmala Jain Temple is dedicated to Ananthanatha Swami who was a Tirthankar; this temple is also known as ”Anantnath Swami Temple”. It is one of the oldest temple in Kerala, built in the 13th century and depicts the mastery of Jain architectures. The temple is located in Puliyarmala in the district of Wayanad in Kerala. Tipu Sultan stored his ammunition inside the premises of the building; thus it is also known as “Tipu Fort”.
Influence of Dravidian style painting is all over the temple; the beautiful carvings are on the doors and stupa of the temple. Interior of the temple is peaceful and smoothly imprinted. It also has the largest brass idol in the premises and a carved statue of Lord Mahavir at the front door. You can reach Puliyarmala Jain temple which is at a distance of 6km from Kalpetta, by catching a local bus or taxi from Kalpetta.
