Tokyo Disneyland, Tokyo Overview
Tokyo Disneyland is the original Disney theme park in Japan, part of Tokyo Disney Resort in Urayasu, Chiba, just east of central Tokyo. Opened on 15 April 1983, it was the first Disney park built outside the United States and is owned and run by the Oriental Land Company under license from Disney. The 51-hectare park has seven themed lands, including World Bazaar and Fantasyland, centered on Cinderella Castle. It draws over 15 million visitors a year, among the most-visited theme parks worldwide.
Tokyo Disneyland sits inside Tokyo Disney Resort in Urayasu, Chiba Prefecture, reached via Maihama Station on the JR Keiyo/Musashino line, about 15 minutes from Tokyo Station. It opened on 15 April 1983, built by Walt Disney Imagineering in the style of the original Disneyland in California. Seven themed lands - World Bazaar, Adventureland, Westernland, Fantasyland, Toontown, Critter Country, and Tomorrowland - hold rides such as Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, and It's a Small World, plus nightly parades and fireworks. It is a separate park from its neighbor Tokyo DisneySea, which opened in 2001 with an ocean-adventure theme and a different admission ticket.
