Banteay Srey Butterfly Centre, Siem Reap Overview

Banteay Srey Butterfly Centre (BBC) is an interactive butterfly zoo and the largest butterfly enclosure center in SE Asia. Tourists can see thousands of species of colorful butterflies belonging to Cambodia and other nearby regions on a short trip to this farm, which is worth exploring, and especially enjoyable if you are traveling with kids. Guided tours are available.

Banteay Srey Butterfly Centre was established in 2009. It was founded as a part of Concert project, an initiative for the conservation of local wildlife and developing responsible tourism. Also known as Angkor Butterfly Center, this netted tropical garden is home to thousands of butterflies, many of which are farmed to be exported to other countries.The farm provides training for individuals on commercial butterfly farming.

Butterfly Tour

The farm conducts free guided tours for all the visitors during which they get to know about the complete life cycle of many species of butterflies and all about farming. Tourists can also experience butterflies feeding and flying very close during the tour. Tours last for about 45 minutes and are available in Khmer, English and French languages.

It takes about 50 minutes to reach Banteay Srey Butterfly Centre from the city centre of Siem Reap. You can rent a motorbike for about 8 USD per day to get there. Or you can reach the farm by hiring a Tuk-Tuk for about 5 USD for a round trip that can also be shared.
