Poon Hill sits at 3,210 metres and is one of Nepal's most popular short treks, usually done as a 2-4 day round trip from Pokhara via Nayapul and Ghorepani. The climb to the viewpoint, done before dawn, is rewarded with a wide sunrise panorama of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. It's considerably shorter and less demanding than the full Annapurna Circuit or Annapurna Base Camp treks, which makes it the common choice for travellers short on time.
The trekking trail covered with rhododendron forest, an amazing landscape, is perfect for modest trekkers. From the top of the hill, one can get a fabulous view of the Gangapurna, Annapurna I, Annapurna South, the Dhaulagiri, and the Hiunchuli Mountains. Those who get high when they climb mountains must visit Poon Hill in Pokhara.
