View Mauritius PackagesLe Morne Brabant is a mountain and a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the Le Morne Peninsula of Mauritius. It is located on the southwestern tip of the island. It is Mauritius's most preserved and wildest mountain and a popular hiking stop for tourists. The hike to the top takes three to four hours, and the view is breathtaking. Le Morne Brabant is also home to the famous underwater fall of Mauritus.
Le Morne Brabant is distinguished by its basaltic monolith scaling up to 556 metres above sea level, and it covers an area of 30 acres of the peninsula. It also houses two rare plants - the Mandrinette and the Boucle d'Oreille. The mountain was once used to shelter the escaped enslaved people during the 18th and 19th centuries, and thus, it is the symbol of the slaves' fight for freedom. The bluish-green lagoon surrounding the peninsula from all directions and the water tempering playfully with the stretches of white sandy beaches clustered with palm trees makes it an attractive tourist location.
