Thunder Ridge Ski Area, New York City Overview
Thunder Ridge ski area is the most convenient place for New Yorkers to get their fill of skiing. Just over an hour away from the city, this small ski area attracts skiers and snowboarders from all across the New York area and despite getting relatively less snowfall, it has snow making capabilities which can cover 90 percent of the mountain.
For its size, Thunder Ridge offers a surprisingly large variety of slopes and difficulty levels ranging from ‘Bunny Trails’ to ‘Black Diamonds’. This, combined with the fact that it is open at night too, makes Thunder Ridge Ski Area a very popular destination for young skiers as well as those just starting to learn how to ski.
