The Skyscraper Museum, New York City Overview

Occupying 5800 square-feet ground floor area of the multipurpose building in Battery Park City, Skyscraper Museum was founded in 1996 but relocated after the 9/11 attacks in 2004. Designed as pro-bono by Roger Duffy, the museum in Lower Manhattan has an amplified interior with 10 feet height arranged by polished stainless steel covering on ceiling and floor that creates an illusion of infinite vertical space. Open from 12 noon till 6 PM, the general admission costs USD 5, USD 2.50 for seniors and students and free for kids below 12, military, veterans, disabled visitors with caregivers, police and fire workers.

The guided group tours are catered at non-public hours i.e. from 10 AM till 6 PM on Monday-Tuesday and 10 AM till 12 noon from Wednesday till Sunday. The history of Height gallery displays the 36-feet mural featuring history of architecture heights with color-coded photographs. The First Skyscrapers/ Steel Skeletons shows the construction site, workers and cranes working for the City Investing Building in pictorial representation. Through exhibitions, World Trade Center History shows the design, conception and construction of the towers during 1960-70, the destruction and the rebuilding at Ground Zero. The Original Twin Towers and the skyline featuring the earliest buildings till date in New York, the tallest  models of the world, Chesko mini models and the Supertall Wall are also noteworthy features of the museum.
