The New York Aquarium is the oldest continuously operating aquarium in the US and is located on Coney Island’s famous boardwalk in Brooklyn. Spread over 14 acres and housing an impressive collection of over 266 species of aquatic fauna, the aquarium attracts locals and tourists in large numbers.
Their massive new exhibit on sharks is housed in a 2 million litre tank and the newest addition to their collection is an exhibit called ‘Spineless’ showcasing invertebrate marine life. Apart from these, one of the aquarium’s crowd favourites is the daily sea lion demonstration in the Aquatheatre which occurs at feeding time and visitors get to watch the aquarium staff and sea lions at play.
The New York Aquarium also runs multiple conservation and rehabilitation programs as well as educational programs for all education and age levels.
