Mashobra Reviews

It is hidden within Shimla and is a complete kit to undergo adventure, meet nature and experience history. The mountains here call for adventurous people to encounter river rafting, paragliding and trekking. The heritage and structure calls for history lovers to relive the British era and experience a moment into the flashback. The markets and the living culture will let one feel the simplicity and long living traditions. It is a saying 'Little things are beautiful and beautiful things are rare', Mashobra is that little town holding its beauty to drive you away from your busy life and provide you real inner peace.

I only went to Mashobra for a day, but it was extremely fulfilling. The car ride from Shimla to Mashobra was stunning. The nature, the beauty, the weather and the pure air really washed all the city blues away. Once we reached, we opted to stay in tents. It was a very slopey ride from the main road to the resort. The food they served was basic North Indian food. The next morning, we rose early and went for a hike. It was one of the best walks I ever took. It didn’t require too much physical strength and offered extraordinary peace of mind. This trip proved to be very cheap as well. I would love to go back.

Lovely place to visit..the most amazing part, it's just 12 kms away from hustle bustle of Shimla.. One important point, try to have extra food stuff with you as much of the options are not available Great place if you are reaching by your own vehicle.

  What's Great?

Located very close to Shimla, Mashobra can be a better alternative to Shimla to avoid the tourist rush.

  What's not so Great?

Being an offbeat destination- there are limited options for food, lodging, and transportation in Mashobra. Also, there's not much to do here for tourists.

For Whom

Nature lovers, family vacations, people looking for a camping site or a peaceful vacation spot.

One Day Itinerary

Mashobra is a town of rejuvenation and a secret getaway from the humdrum of the city life. Your stay in Mashobra depends on all on where you choose to stay. The proximity of the various tourist attractions is of major importance because the attractions in Mashobra are less and scantily spread. Start your day with a breakfast at your hotel or a nearby eatery and if you're hale and hearty, trek a bit to Craignano, and spend some time till noon there. Next, it really depends on what time you are in Mashobra. If it's in May, you can attend the Mahasu Fair and Festival, and if not, then trek to the Reserve Forest Sanctuary and camp a while there as well. Later in the evening, you can come down to the town for an early dinner and set out early next morning.

Mashobra has no special cuisine of its own, except the heavy Oriental influence, that is available at almost every formal and informal eateries. While not many proper informal seating food eateries are available, there are enough dhabas to fit your budget. For those travelling luxury, you can dine in at your hotel iteself, as most of the popular luxury hotels and restaurants house extremely credible restaurants as well.
