Milagres Church, Mangalore Overview

Milagres Church is a late 1600 Roman Catholic church and one of the oldest in Dakshina Karnataka dedicated to Church of Our Lady of Miracles. The original Milagres Church doesn't exist anymore as it was demolished by Tipu Sultan, but a cemetery and a chapel which was built years later are still present. Followers visit to offer prayers and absorb the tranquil vibe. The major aspects that draw tourists are the century-old architecture, its religious significance and historical importance. The magnificent structure is an outcome of the efforts of Mangalorean Catholics for the well being of the community settled in the city. Many choose to sit in silence for hours to calm their minds and observe the beautiful interiors. Over the years, Milagres Church has seen some difficult phases in history and even struggled to survive the tests of time and weather but there, somehow, is still a soothing vibe that visitors cannot deny.
