Sairee Beach, Koh Tao Overview

Spanning over to a distance of 1.85 kilometers up the West coast of Koh Tao, Sairee Beach is the longest beach in Tao. It is also the busiest beach of Koh Tao flooded with throngs of restaurants, dive centers, bars, cafes, shops and a wide range of accommodation options available easily. This gorgeous beach is ideal for families with children.

Sairee Beach is also famous for being a hotspot for party animals as it boasts of amazing nightlife culture. The island hopping travelers are seen hanging out at the beach along with fellow backpackers. The line of restaurants on the two narrow streets majorly serving the best Thai Food experience is not to be missed.

Things to Do at Sairee Beach

  • This beach is a wonderful place to just soak under the bliss of the sun but besides lazing around, one can indulge in playing a game of beach volleyball, or football.
  • Sometimes when the weather is perfect and the wind is strong, playing frisbee brings a next level satisfaction at this beach.
  • There is dive site nearly 30 meters ahead of the shore where myriads of corals starkly juxtaposed and make an amazing site for snorkeling or diving.
  • Families and groups are also seen celebrating picnics and day outs at the beach.
  • One can even try kayaking and a couple of other water sports for fun at Sairee beach.

For divers, Sairee beach imparts unique experiences throughout the year but the excellent diving conditions are acknowledged in the months of May, June, July, and August.

How To Reach Sairee Beach

Koh Tao island is tucked on the eastern coast of Thailand while Sairee beach is on the west coast of Koh Tao. In order to reach Sairee beach, one must travel to the small island of Koh Tao which is accessed by a boat journey. The island measures a total distance of 21 square kilometres where road conditions are quite basic. One will only find one single road scaling the island distance from the South to the North that also passes through the Sairee village. Other routes have nothing but tedious dirt roads. 

There are very limited ways to get around the island such as renting a scooter or a bicycle that costs around THB 200 per day. One can always board a longtail boat to explore the island and reach Sairee beach.
