Sai Daeng Beach

Sai Daeng Beach, Koh Tao Overview

Located 15 minutes from Mae Haad, Sai Daeng Beach is a strip of warm, white sand lined by palm trees. Set away from the usual cacophony of Koh Tao’s tourist-frequented beaches, Sai Daeng is much quieter and thus ideal for a peaceful getaway. The water here is blue, clear, and warm, thus ideal for kayaking and snorkeling.

Gears are available at small shacks on the beach. Sea turtles, black-tip reef sharks, groupers, and Christmas worms are common marine life occurrences here. From Sai Daeng, you can swim east around Cape Gong and explore the coral reefs at Hin Ngam Bay as well. Alternatively, you can take a kayak, row to Shark Island in 10 minutes, and snorkel there instead. With a water depth of 5-25m and lots of boulders to explore, it is ideal for watersport enthusiasts Coral View Resort, located on the west side of the beach, has a cafe, a restaurant, and a shaded area where you can relax between water activities. Sai Daeng Resort has the most popular restaurant here called Uncle Soon’s, which serves reasonably priced Thai, Continental, and North American cuisines. These resorts also rent out snorkeling and kayaking equipment. Exercise caution while swimming in the water, as the current in the bay can be quite strong at certain points.
