Sci-Bono Discovery Centre, Johannesburg Overview

The Sci-Bono Discovery Centre is South Africa’s largest science centre, located at Helen St. Joseph in Johannesburg. It has over 350 interactive exhibits on math, science and technology. The mini planetarium inside is stunning and enjoyable to learn about the universe.

Many activities are offered here, from actual science experiments to rock climbing. Although many exhibits range from the prehistoric era to the modern age, the Robotics division is particularly popular. Another popular exhibition is H2O TODAY, which features the world’s largest 3D waterfall, turtles, crocodiles and other displays on marine life. In addition, there is a dedicated construction section where children can build towers and operate cranes with Lego and Zoob. For older children, there are more complex games such as Mind Ball. There is also a quaint coffee shop and a souvenir shop on the premises. The Discovery Centre can be reached easily by bus as the City Sightseeing bus stop is directly in front of it.
