Edward Youde Aviary, Hong Kong Overview

Situated in the southern part of the Hong Kong Park in Victoria Peak, the Edward Youde Aviary is one of the largest aviaries in Southeast Asia. spread across 3000 square kilometres, it is named after Edward Youde, the governor of Hong Kong from 1982 to 1986. This aviary has a walk through system and features over 600 birds of near about 80 different species which are indigenous to Southeast Asia, Indonesia and New Guinea.

The Edward Youde Aviary houses some of the ground dwelling birds like pheasants, partridges, pigeons and thrushes along with displaying different type eggs. It is one of the must visit place in the city, especially for bird lovers and for people who are looking for some peaceful time in the bustling city.

Bird Watching Tour at Edward Youde Aviary

Bird watching is one of the most sought after activity in Edward Youde Aviary. This activity is free of cost and takes place every Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM. There is no need to fill any sort of application form as the visitors can just walk in to be a part of the bird watching tour. The gathering point is the white bridge near the restaurant at the Hong Kong Park Artificial Lake.

How To Reach Edward Youde Aviary

Train: The visitors can take the train and get down at the Admiralty Station and take C1 exit. From there, take taxi to reach the aviary via Cotton Tree Road.

Private Transport: The visitors can take their own personal vehicles to the Edward Youde Aviary. However, the park where the aviary is situated does not have parking space. The visitors will have to use the public parking facilities. Some of the parking spaces are – Queensway Government Offices Carparks via Supreme Court Road (it is open on all days from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM).
