Tsing Ma Bridge, Hong Kong Overview

Constructed in 1997, The Tsing Ma Bridge is a 2.2 km long engineering pinnacle that connects the Hong Kong International Airport on Lantau Island with the Hong Kong Kowloon city side. The bridge is named after the two islands - Tsing Yi and Ma Wan that it connects. It is currently the world’s longest suspension bridge, has two decks and is open to both road and rail traffic.

The Tsing Ma Bridge spans over the length of 1377 metres and traverses a height of 206 metres. The upper deck of the bridge is a bi-directional six-lane motorway while the lower deck is comprised of two emergency lanes for trains and cars. In case of a typhoon hit, the railway lines on the bridge remain functioning so as to transfer passengers and their luggage to and from the airport. Due to these facts, the Tsing Ma bridge is one of the major tourist attractions in Hong Kong. At the Northwest corner of Tsing Yi, the Lantau Link Viewing Platform and Visitors centre provide marvellous panoramic views.

Lantau Link Visitors Centre and Viewing Platform

The Lantau Link Visitors Centre and Viewing Platform are two areas based along Tsing Ma Bridge which provide magnificent panoramic views of the harbour.

The timings for the two are listed below.

Lantau Link Visitors Centre	Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 10:00 AM to 05:00 PM Saturday, Sunday, and Public Holidays: 10:00 AM to 06:30 PM Wednesday, December 25th & 26th, January 1st, the first three days of the lunar year: Closed
Viewing Platform	07:30 AM to 11:00 PM: Everyday

How To Reach Tsing Ma Bridge

Due to the absence of a sidewalk, the bridge is not accessible on foot, therefore, so as to enjoy the bridge closely, one can opt for any of the following ways:

Take a bus from New Territories to Tung Chung or Hong Kong International Airport, which advances through the bridge.
Take the 308M minibus from the Tsing Yi station.
Take a cab from Tsing Yi station Exit A1 to Lantau Link Visitors Centre. The fare is around HKD 45 and the ride takes about 15 minutes.
