After being closed for centuries, Sheesh Mahal in Delhi’s Shalimar Bagh was recently reopened to the public on July 2, 2025, following a major restoration. The palace now welcomes visitors with its red sandstone walls, arched Mughal pavilions, landscaped gardens, and restored heritage cottages, offering you a glimpse into the grandeur of the Mughal court. You can stroll through the gardens, explore the historic baradari pavilion, or simply relax while visiting Café Shalimar and Readers’ Café in the complex.
Sheesh Mahal in Shalimar Bagh is a 17th-century Mughal palace commissioned by Shah Jahan in 1653 and historically significant as the site of Emperor Aurangzeb’s coronation in 1658. The nearest metro stations from the site are Shalimar Bagh, Haiderpur Badli Mor, and Jahangirpuri, from where you can take a short auto or rickshaw ride to the park entrance.
