Saach Pass

Sach Pass, a mountain pass over the Pir Panjal range at a height of around 4,500 m, connects Dalhousie with Chamba and the Pangi Valley. About 150 km from Dalhousie, it is one of the most difficult passes to cross in North India. Adventure seekers visit when it's open to ride a bike or drive through it, though an experienced local driver can also be hired for those who'd rather not take the risk themselves. It's also a preferred route for locals reaching Chamba or Pangi, and a popular trekking route from Dalhousie.

This pass plays an important role in the region as it is the shortest route to Killar and has helped reduce the travel distance between Pathankot and Leh. Hence, even the Indian Army uses Sach Pass extensively. The region receives heavy snowfall, and the pass needs to be cleared every day of the winter season. It has enormous snow walls that stretch till the end of the route. The panoramic view of the natural landscape - the valleys and the mountain peaks, from the pass, is a breathtaking sight.
