November - March and July - August are the best months to visit Chamoli. However, this place experiences fantastic weather throughout the year. If your purpose to visit Chamoli was seeing the Valley of Flowers as well, the best time to visit would be July - August.

Chamoli in Summer (April - July)

The summers of Chamoli are pleasant enough to make a trip. Temperatures hardly cross 30 degree celcius at any time and stays between 15° to 32°C on an average. Summers in Chamoli has clear blue skies and pleasant surroundings. The season of summer starts from April and stretches till July. This is a very busy time in Chamoli and you will find most places heavily packed, with prices skyrocketing. Chamoli in Monsoon (August - September)

While the monsoon showers make the roads of Chamoli prone to landslides and accidents, it is also true that they wash over the town, leaving it lush green. July to August is when the Valley of Flowers is most beautiful to visit as well. The sun of the summer melts the snow away, while the monsoon rains turn it green and covers the alpine meadows with endless endemic flora. However, this is not the best time for trekking. Regular sightseeing will be disrupted by rain as well.

Chamoli in Winter (October - February)

Winters are heaven-like in Chamoli as snowfall turns the place into a land of paradise. If you are a regular tourist, this is the most ideal time for you to visit. As the Badrinath Temple is closed starting November for six months, it is an off-season for pilgrims and the prices of hotels and airfare drop. Temperature can fall below 0°C at times and stays around 5°-15°C on an average - perfect for a winter holiday. The famous Gaucher Mela is hosted in November, which is a cultural fest and industrial fair that you can visit. People participate in adventure activities like skiing during this season.
