Mukteshwar Tourism

Mukteshwar is a small hill town mostly known for adventure sports such as rock climbing, rappelling etc. and the amazing view of Himalayan ranges you get from there.

Another one of Uttaranchal's beautiful hill stations, Mukteshwar deriving its name from Lord Shiva is complete with fruit orchards, coniferous forests and rolling meadows at a height of 7500 ft. The Indian Veterinary Research Institute campus established in 1893 is located here. You will find the little cottages and homes in Mukteshwar built in quaint Colonial style. Jim Corbett penned the novel "The Man Eaters of Kumaon" here. Mukteshwar allows a breath-taking view of Nanda Devi Peak. The Mukteshwar Temple and Chauli ka Jali are other popular destinations. There is also a Renewable Park developed by The Energy and Resources Institute generating solar electricity for most of its electricity needs.

  What's Great?

Beautiful hill station. Lovely snow capped mountains. Brilliant views from the town. Not crowded. Not so expensive.

  What's not so Great?

Winters are a bit too cold. Slightly difficult to reach.

For Whom

Mukteshwar is a great place to visit, especially for those living in the north. Lots of people from the cities of Delhi, Dehradun and Chandigarh come here. Travellers looking for a relatively offbeat hill station in Uttarakhand should visit here.
