Cape Point Nature Reserve, Cape Town Overview

Cape Point is one of the most spectacular parks in South Africa, located in the Southern section of the Table Mountains. It is the world’s smallest but richest floral kingdom with over 1100 indigenous plants. Cape Point contains beautiful beaches and peaks - Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope. It is famous for its scenic views and birdwatching.

Cape Point is often mistakenly cited as the point where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet; however, this meeting point is Cape Agulhas instead. It boasts over 250 bird species, and you may even spot a whale during springtime. The Funicular Railway can take you to the base of an old lighthouse located at the higher peak, and the lower peak is only 100 m south. You can also visit the Two Oceans Restaurant for the most beautiful view and world-class cuisine or shop for souvenirs at the three Cape Point shops. There are also monuments to explorers such as Vasco Da Gama and Bartolomeu Dias. The Bordjiesrif and Buffels Bay tidal pools are great locations for swimming, picnics and walks. You can also take the shipwreck trail to view the 26 different recorded shipwrecks around Cape Point.
