Fo Guang Buddhist Temple Boston, Boston Overview

The Fo Guang Buddhist Temple is a Chinese Mahayana temple and is the first temple built in Massachusetts by Fo Guang Shan Temple. He initially started with an idea of preaching Buddhism in Boston by creating a Greater Boston Buddhist Cultural Center, which was a restaurant that he purchased in between Harvard University and MIT.

The center was a teahouse and a bookstore and also included reading groups and meditation classes for children and adults. The center stays in touch with the local Buddhist community groups and other religious groups, which further led to the expansion of its members and also led to the shift of venue.
