Corbyn, Andaman Overview

Corbyn's Cove is the nearest beach to Port Blair. It is quite popular among tourists as well as locals. Certain parts of the Corbyn’s Cove Beach have some seating arrangement to get a good view of the horizon from a little height. There are some shacks that sell local snacks, drinks, coconut water etc. There are some restaurants also in the vicinity. The beach is one of the places where travellers can get great deals on clothing, accessories and other items to be bought as memorabilia. Corbyn’s Cove Beach has some provision for water sports but often people do not want to enter the waters because the surroundings are littered and the water polluted with garbage. The facilities for water sports are also not as impressive as many other beaches in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. But if one wants to, they can go Jet Skiing or a go on a short boat ride into the sea.

The beachfront at Corbyn’s Cove is one of the attractions often covered in the sightseeing itinerary for tourists visiting Port Blair. Many prefer the beach for sunbathing and water sports if they cannot or do not want to travel to other islands or beach fronts. The entire shore is lined by tall coconut trees and visitors can stroll through them before hitting the sands.

Best Time to Visit


The best time to visit Corbyn’s Cove Beach is during the winter season (November to February). For tourists, this is the best time because the weather remains pleasant with a temperature hovering between a maximum of 32áµ’C and a minimum of 18áµ’C. The sea waves are gentle and the attraction is perfect for a beach stroll.

The summer season (between March and April) can also be a good time to visit Corbyn’s Cove Beach barring the afternoons. Usually during the season, the mercury level remains between 37áµ’C and 27áµ’C. So, the afternoons are hot and humid while the evenings and early mornings are a somewhat pleasant. Wearing light clothing, hats and sunscreen is much recommended in both the seasons.

Between May and September, Port Blair experiences the Monsoon Season. Heading to Corbyn’s Cove Beach is not recommended because the region receives quite some amount of rainfall (over 2800 mm average annual rainfall). Also, the humidity levels are high throughout the season. This time of the year, therefore, is not at all recommended to tourists.

How To Reach Corbyn's Cove Beach

Corbyn’s Cove Beach is located in Gundavali Hill Road, about 7 kilometres away from the centre of Port Blair. The well-connected city roads and a decently managed public transport allow easy conveyance to the beach. Taxis, auto rickshaws and local buses are the best affordable options to commute within the city. Geared or non-geared two-wheelers can also be rented in Port Blair. The RGT Road – Corbyn’s Road Route can be used to reach the attraction in about 20 to 30 minutes.

This beach is for ppl who wanna exp a laid back time n enjoy see view without any crowd n water sports. Food options r limited with average taste.
