The I Amsterdam Sign is an iconic symbol of Amsterdam, representing the city’s welcoming and inclusive spirit. Originally installed in 2004, the letters quickly became one of the most photographed landmarks in the city. While the original sign was once in front of the Rijksmuseum, but it was removed in 2018 due to overcrowding. However, several versions of the sign remain in different parts of the city, like Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and Sloterplas, and there are also mobile versions found at events, festivals, and cultural gatherings.
These letters are a favourite photo destination of the tourists. Another set of letters is located at the Amsterdam airport and a third quite interestingly changes locations, popping up at random places. These letters are literally iconic of the city, written on tee shirts, across boards during fairs, musical gigs and other festivals. A must have photograph, to cap your trip of the Dutch capital!
