The third major museum situated on museumplein, the Stadelijk museum is the largest collection of modern art and design in the country. It contains work of some of the most famous modern artists of the world.
Opened first in 1895, the Stadelijk museum houses extraordinary works by 20th and 21st century artists such as Mondrian, Pablo Picasso, De Kooning, Matisse and many others.
