Amora Ubud Boutique Villas

We stayed one night and left ! After spending 4 x nights of pure relaxation at Mahagiri Sanur, we travelled to our next stay at Amora. ( 6 x nights ) We are familiar with the Campuhan Ridge area and were excited to travel to our accomodation. Check in was trouble free. We were taken to our Valley Pool Villa hoping for a tranquil and relaxing stay. We were extremely disappointed to say the least. at no stage of making our booking were we advised that major construction and site works were going to be conducted right outside our private villa pool. Constant workers walking past and hammering , cutting , etc etc toilet inside villa is situated right next to bed, not a very pleasant smell as no exhaust fan. if we had known of these issues ( mainly the construction sites x 3 !) we would have booked elsewhere. We cut our losses and checked out early as there was no way we were going to have a relaxing stay under those conditions. Amora should advise on their website that construction in progress that could effect customers. By not doing this is being deceitful and not honest to potential customers/guests. We will not be returning .

I don't understand why this property is currently rated 4.5 stars by customers. We paid over 600 AUD (~450 USD) for two nights at Villas 302 to be disappointed. My first impression at the Check area was that the staff was cold, not smiling, and not happy. It seems like she is experiencing something very unpleasant. We then went to the bar and had to wait over an hour to check in, even though the time to do so was 2 pm. While explaining the room, the reception staff seemed to threaten us, and if we dirtied anything that could not be cleaned, we would have to pay compensation. The room's interior is standard compared to the highest room category there. Other than the width, nothing is outstanding. Scooter rental service for 200k IDR a day with helmets emitting a bad smell makes me feel itchy again as I write these lines. The included breakfast is too normal, equivalent to cheaper hotels I've stayed at. Overall, this hotel is overrated and not worth the money.

I had booked for 2 nights, and even with the SUPER high price I paid, I left after the first night because I was SO disappointed with being there, unfortunately. When I first arrived I actually thought I was dropped at the wrong place because of the very plain entrance and standards of greeting. The grounds are poorly kept with grass and weeds over growing everywhere. I had a "Valley villa", but because of the overgrown bushes I couldn't see into a valley at all. The advertising promises a "magical view of the valley". One thing I could see from my villa was a large hole through the bushes overlooking the main pool where a large green floating bean bag had floated to the edge. It was there when I arrived and overnight until I left. Staff clearly had little care. Also the hole showed into where I could have sun-baked in private next to my private pool, but that hole made it not feel private. The large gaps in the doors in the Villa allowed large flying ants into the room. The toilet seat was so old and worn it was yellowing and rough to sit on. The shower was uncomfortable to use because of the way the shower handles are behind the waterfall type shower itself, so you'll get wet or have to stand behind the water before it warms up. The mini bar included no healthy options. There was Pringles and 3 bottles of wine on show. Not sure what was in the fridge, probably some soft drinks. Nuts would be a good simple addition. Dust and hairs on the bedside tables. There were cob webs inside of the woven wooden furniture and light shades. No block out curtains and cheap curtain fixture. The morning sun shines directly onto your face. If you don't have an eye mask and are not a morning person you will not appreciate this. Bugs flying around the room but not mosquito net which could have helped. Not that I would need one but there is no TV in the room, so just a prewarning for anyone else who would like the option.
