Most people suggest September - October as the ideal months to visit Salzburg. The summer crowds taper off, and the city is back to its serene self. The climate is also quite comfortable during these months. The temperature drastically drops in the months of December through February. The months of December and January observe the ever so charming Christmas Markets. The city is christmas-y and festive and has a a very different vibe as compared to any other month in the city.
