About Leopard Orchid Safaris

James Kabiru started Leopard Orchid Safaris in 2019 with a single vehicle, one licensed guide and a stubborn conviction. Real luxury on safari does not come from marble bathtubs. It comes from time, patience, and the right person behind the wheel.

Today the company runs private journeys across Kenya and Tanzania, curated beach extensions on the Indian Ocean coast, and full conference and incentive programmes for corporate clients. What has not changed is who does the work. Every itinerary is written by a named consultant in our Ruiru office, never a template and never a call centre.

Being locally owned matters more than it sounds. It means we know which Mara conservancy is quiet in August, which Serengeti camp moves with the herds, and which lodge manager will hold a room on a phone call. It also means the money you spend stays largely in the country you came to see.

Our mission is simple. Craft private, honestly priced African journeys that leave every guest safer, more inspired and more connected to Africa than they arrived, while creating meaningful work for the guides, camps and conservancies that make the wild possible.

We had a wonderful experience with Leopard Orchid Safaris. We did Amboselli, Lake Naivasha and Masai Mara. Michael was super helpful and helped us customize our itinerary the way we wanted it. The sta (Read More)ys he recommended were all amazing and we had a lovely time at all the properties. They provided excellent value for money and had competitive pricing compared to other tour providers. Also, we want to give a huge shout out to our guide Dan, who made our trip truly memorable and unforgettable. He is such a kindhearted and knowledgeable person. He went out of his way to make us have the best time possible and tried to ensure that we get best views of the animals. His knowledge about the wildlife, their habits, and where to spot them is incredible. If we ever do another safari, we will definitely go with Dan and Leopard Orchid safaris!

What a company, from the very beginning negotiating with Michel was very easy, he was very kind and it felt like a conversation between friends, Michael made all the changes I asked fo (Read More)r and was attentive the whole time and replied almost immediately when I wrote to him. Likewise, George our guide was excellent, he looked for the best spots and agreed to go back to safari points that I asked to revisit to see another animal. He promised that we would be able to see all the animals and he kept his promise, he searched for them and we were able to see everything we wanted. It was like having a friend in Kenya available to help us with everything. He has wifi service in his van and that was excellent. A very reliable and collaborative person. In addition to that, he was respectful with the animals and did not harass them as we saw in other cars. Simply very good service.

Our 6-day safari experience with Leopard Orchid was simply amazing! The planning, proposal, and booking were super easy and hassle-free, and they tailored a package completely to our needs. From the (Read More)moment we arrived in Nairobi, we didn’t have to worry about a thing. We were able to fully enjoy the moment and discover the incredible wildlife and nature. A special thanks to Francis, our driver, who made this trip truly unforgettable! He adapted to all of our wishes and showed us the wildlife in the best possible way, while always treating nature with the utmost respect. We loved getting to know him and already miss him after just one day! 😅 All the accommodations they recommended were perfect, and we absolutely loved the route. This was our second safari in Kenya with Leopard Orchid Safaris, and once again the experience exceeded all our expectations. This time we visited Amboseli, Tsavo East, and Tsavo West National Parks. (Read More) Even though we booked during the high season with very little time before our departure, the team quickly put together an excellent itinerary, recommended fantastic accommodations with great value for money, and took all of our preferences into account. Every detail of the trip was perfectly organized, from transfers to lodge check-ins, allowing us to simply relax and enjoy the safari. A special thank you to Michael for his professionalism, efficiency, and attention to detail. He made the entire planning process smooth, easy, and completely stress-free. We would also like to thank our guide, Fred, who is a true professional. His knowledge of Kenya's wildlife, the national parks, and animal behavior is simply outstanding. We were especially impressed by Tsavo, where the vast landscape and dense vegetation make spotting wildlife much more challenging than in more open parks. Thanks to Fred's experience, patience, and exceptional tracking skills, we were able to see almost every animal we had hoped to encounter. On top of that, he shared fascinating insights about the animals, their behavior, and the unique ecosystems of each park, making every game drive even more memorable. Throughout the entire trip, we felt that the itinerary had been carefully tailored to our interests rather than being just another standard safari package.
