The south square of the Kraton fills up after dark with light-covered pedal cars and food carts, but the reason to come is the pair of old banyan trees in the middle. Walking blindfolded between them, a ritual called masangin, is said to work only if your intentions are true, and watching people veer off course is half the entertainment. It is the one evening attraction here that costs nothing and needs no booking.
