Best Time To Visit Velankanni

Velankanni is greeted by an onslaught of southwest and northeast monsoon winds during the months of July to September. he temperatures range between 24 to 29 degrees Celsius. Due to this the monsoon months in Velankanni are often categorised with heavy rains and occasional thunderstorms. These thunderstorms may even turn into minor cyclones at certain points of the season, which makes it slightly risky to travel to the town during monsoons. Velankanni receives an average of 1000mm of rainfall during the entire year and is high on humidity during these months. The entire town is covered with grey, dense clouds as well, which covers Velankanni with an odd mystical presence. Velankanni was the worst hit by Tsunami in 2004. 

Summers in Velankanni is just as hot and humid as the other towns of Tamil nadu. The temperatures during the months of March to June ranges between 30 to 36 degrees celsius which is the maximum temperature the town receives. Velankanni may also be visited by scanty rains during this season, though these rains do not put a damper on any planned activities or sightseeing. This is owing to the fact that Velankanni is a coastal town and maintains a moderate temperature throughout the year.
