War Museum Tours

There are tours with free guides that are available in Khmer, English, French, German and Spanish languages. The guides usually come from a war background, either having been soldiers or affected by the Khmer Rouge and hence you get to know their personal experiences as well, which is a unique thing about visiting War Museum. On this tour, you'll see the various war machinery that was used in combat, some of them including AK-47, M16, tank T-54, Browning Automatic Rifles, the jet fighter aircraft MiG-19, the helicopter Mil Mi-8 and the field artillery gun 85-mm divisional gun D-44.

War Museum Significance

War Museum was established in 2001 in Siem Reap. The Museum houses a vast collection of war vehicles like tanks, artillery, weaponry and equipment. They have been gathered from the war venues like Anlong Veng, Siem Reap, Odor Meanchey. Some of the weapons on display were even used in World War II. The Museum also consists of rare photographs showcasing how these wars affected everyday life in Cambodia. There is an exclusive section dedicated to the landmines covering their locations, their role in the wars and the efforts to clear them in different parts of the country.

How To Reach War Museum

The Museum is located about 30 minutes from the city centre of Siem Reap. You can hire a Tuk-Tuk for about 5 USD for a round trip that can be shared as well. Or you can rent a motorbike daily for about 8 USD per day that would also give you the flexibility to combine multiple attractions.
