South Africa's largest zoo, Pretoria's zoo is spread across a sprawling 210 acres, home to about 9000 animals of more than 700 species.
The zoo has grown since it's in 1899 by leaps and bounds to become a brilliant zoological facility. What initially was only used as a stopover point for animals being transported, today is home to majestic animals like the Bengal tiger and lions. The zoo is home to an enormous number of animals today, with their natural habitats created for them superbly. Exotic animals like Koalas, Komodo dragons and Kangaroos along with African animals like leopards, gorillas, elephants and several others. The beautiful zoo's landscape consists of a flat plains and a mountainous northern side, with the Apies River dividing the two, connected by 2 bridges. The banks of the river are also a famous picnic spot for families, and a cable car connects the top of the hills to the entrance at the bottom. The chargeable cable car provides amazing views of the entire zoo and all its enclosures.
