Faerie Glen Nature Reserve, Pretoria Overview

The Faerie Glen Nature Reserve is a wildlife sanctuary situated east of Pretoria. It is famous for hiking, dog walking (a permit is required), picnicking (only picnic baskets are permitted) and photography. Bird watching is popular, with over 150 bird species found here. There are two wooden lookout points for the same.

There are informal picnic spots around the reserve but no braai facilities. The reserve comprises the western part of the Bronberg conservation area, an endangered ecosystem that houses diverse flora and fauna. Gold Reef Mountain Bushveld and Marikana Thornveld, two types of vegetations, can be found here along with animals like hares, zebras, small-spotted genets, etc. The Moreleta Spruit flows through the reserve as well.
