Nelson Mandela Statue, Pretoria Overview
The Nelson Mandela statue was erected in honour of the anti-apartheid activist and first President of South Africa. It is located on the Union Building Grounds in Pretoria. Standing 9 metres tall, it is the tallest statue of Nelson Mandela in the world.
It is located in the exact spot where Mandela was instated as South Africa’s first democratically elected President and was unveiled 10 days after his death, officially bringing the mourning period to a close. The surrounding gardens are also magnificent. The Union Building is located on a hill and offers a stunning view of the city.
