St. Mary's Cathedral is the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Perth, with a Gothic Revival nave dating to the 1860s. A major redevelopment completed in 2009 added a contemporary glass and steel extension alongside the original stone structure, a deliberate contrast that makes it one of Perth's more distinctive pieces of religious architecture. It sits in the CBD near the Perth Cultural Centre, so it's easy to combine with a Cultural Centre or Swan River visit rather than requiring a separate trip.
